Ops Coordinator / Online Customer Service

Would you like to be involved?

Do you find yourself at home, wishing you could have an impact on the lives of others but are not mobile or in a position to come to our base?  Are you self-sufficient and detail oriented?

We are looking for a positive, can-do and committed volunteer to help us connect our generous donors with those who need our support the most. This role can be performed remotely or at our office, and involves coordinating the offers and requests we receive daily, which will help set up a secure home from which  trauma survivors will start a new stage of life.

What we need

We are looking for a regular commitment, but one which can be flexible around work, family or home. We require one block of 3-4 hours weekly, within business hours (this role suits school hours, for example). You will need to respond to requests and offers with sensitivity, positivity and patience, progress qualified enquiries through our system and sometimes help plan transportation of items. As the software is new, we are looking for someone with a can-do attitude and openness to change as we redesign our processes to improve efficiency.

Initially there will be a one-month trial period for you to see if we are a great match.

Training and support are always available.

What will a typical shift be like?

  • Respond to offers and requests, sharing your warmth and kindness with all

  • Share plans to our team at the warehouse (which we call Base)

  • Coordinate with transport scheduler

  • Chat online with base, leadership team, scheduler

  • Look for ways to improve our processes and systems so we can help more people

  • Rest easy knowing you have changed lives for the better each and every time you login.

Dispatch / Warehouse Team

Would you like to be involved?

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers to help us connect our generous donors with those who need support. This opportunity involves receiving, checking, cleaning, storing and stock list management for donations of household items from private or corporate donors across much of Sydney. Our volunteers also prepare orders for dispatch to drivers, which they say they enjoy the most as it is the time you think of the person and circumstances at the other end and pull together items that will make their life better.

What we need

A regular commitment on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Typically shifts will be four hours on a weekday or three hours on weekends or evenings, with flexibility around start and finish times based on your preferences. We can accommodate weekday, weekend or evening shifts. Some roles involve lifting/moving heavy or bulky items with equipment provided and require a decent level of fitness, others are focused on organisation, stocktake and planning. Fix-it skills and a can do attitude are highly prized. We strive to improve constantly and truly value suggestions for improvement at every stage.

What will a typical shift be like?

  • Report to our warehouse, (which we call 'Base') in Melrose Park.

  • Follow a schedule prepared by our Logistics Manager and operations team

    • Receive goods from our kind donors brought directly to Base

    • Check in GG driver pickups

    • Organise goods for delivery to those in our communities who need it the most

  • Wipe down goods received as needed.

  • Update stocklist

  • Alert tagging and testing team of items awaiting attention.

  • Have a laugh with your team mates - kind-hearted people ready to make a difference

  • Finish the shift knowing you have made a positive impact on people’s lives – families, lonely individuals and youth at risk.
